From Japan's biggest pop hit to your favorite rhythm game.
Maozon is a producer and DJ from Yokohama, Japan, and a mainstay of Tokyo's drum and bass scene. He is flying in to play Kyosai at Tsukicon 2026.
The song all of Japan knows
In 2013, Maozon won the grand prize in the "SEE THE LIGHTS" remix contest run by the drum and bass unit ASY. His major-label debut followed: "R.Y.U.S.E.I." for Sandaime J Soul Brothers, which won the 56th Japan Record Award and later a JASRAC Gold Award. He also composed the group's "O.R.I.O.N.," one of the ten best-selling songs in Japan in 2015.
The songs you've played
If you play rhythm games, you have probably cleared a Maozon chart. He got into music through a rhythm game in the first place, and he has written for beatmania IIDX since 2015, with tracks like "Steel Edge," "Best of Me," and "Next Level." His music also appears in CHUNITHM, maimai, Arcaea, Dance Dance Revolution, jubeat, and D4DJ Groovy Mix.
The club side
Away from pop and games, Maozon produces drum and bass for labels around the world. In 2025, his track "Escape" was released on the UK label Viper Recordings as part of a compilation of Japanese artists. He has played DJ sets across the United States, Canada, China, and South Korea.
